My name is Amrit Moore, and I’m a Museum Studies graduate student at Southern University of New Orleans, and I have found myself on a grand adventure to backpack the Peruvian Amazon, making use of my BFA in drawing. On June 8th 2013 I leave from my New Orleans home to begin a 6 week journey with fellow Quaker Dr.Campbell Plowden, founder and director of the Center for Amazon Community Ecology. We will be joined by his son Luke, and together the three of us, and many Peruvian friends, will journey through the Amazon to remote villages to study the ecosystem of Copal resin, and work with local artists. I will be drawing a guide on sustainable harvest of weaving fibers, and a weaving pattern guide to ensure product consistency. I hope to use this blog to keep you all up to date on our adventure, and hopefully to share many photos and a video or two.
